A national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents committed to the civic purposes of higher education, Campus Compact promotes community service that develops students' citizenship skills and values, encourages partnerships between campuses and communities, and assists faculty who seek to integrate public and community engagement into their teaching and research.

AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Authorized in 1964 and founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965, VISTA has been on the front lines in the fight against poverty in America for more than 45 years.

The Corporation for National and Community Service plays a vital role in supporting the American culture of citizenship, and is the nation’s largest grantmaker supporting service and volunteering.

Learn and Serve America supports and encourages service-learning throughout the United States, and enables over one million students to make meaningful contributions to their community while building their academic and civic skills. By engaging our nation’s young people in service-learning, Learn and Serve America instills an ethic of lifelong community service.

The McCormick Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening our free, democratic society by investing in children, communities and country. Through its five grantmaking programs, Cantigny Park and Golf, and three world-class museums, the Foundation helps build a more active and engaged citizenry. It was established as a charitable trust in 1955, upon the death of Colonel Robert R. McCormick, the longtime editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune. The McCormick Foundation is one of the nation’s largest charities, with $1.2 billion in assets. The McCormick Foundation is a supporter of Illinois Campus Compact’s Raise Your Voice Fellows, Community Service Director Fellows and other various workshops and conferences.

The Project on Civic Reflection helps civic groups build capacity, commitment and community through reading and discussion. Since 1998 they have engaged thousands of citizens across America in discussing short readings—poems, stories, essays, scripture—as a means of reflecting on basic questions at the heart of their giving, service and leadership.

The Serve Illinois Commission is a 25-35 member, bi-partisan board appointed by the Governor. Its mission is to improve Illinois communities by enhancing traditional volunteer activities and supporting national service programs. It works to expand volunteerism throughout rural, suburban, and urban Illinois, involving people of all backgrounds, cultures, and ages.

State Farm Companies Foundation was established in 1963 as an independent private foundation funded by the State Farm Mutual Company. The Foundation provides support for key initiatives and scholarships, as well as associate-directed programs, including grants supporting volunteerism and matching gifts to two- and four-year colleges and universities.
